ABOUT THE BAND

Stay Out started in 2017 as a scrappy Oakland, CA based punk threesome with catchy, melodic power punk bursts. Grant and Mason, who started the band, are also its main songwriters and singers (yes, two singers)! They are a 1-2 punch of creativity, personality and fun. After getting a new drummer (Nate Reynoso), Stay Out released their 2nd full length, “Always Late” in 2019. The songs show a tighter band, brimming with radio potential, cranking out blistering performances of maturing songs… influenced by their SF Bay Area punk forefathers as well as other OG trailblazers… you’re well on your way to understanding the appeal and talent behind Stay Out.

Expanding on their sound, they added a 2nd guitarist (Carl Pospiech of The Creepoids) later that year and started work on their next release. After recording at Dave Klein Studios in Los Angeles and finalizing mixing and mastering, “Just Pretend” is set for an early 2023 release. This collection of songs shows a continued maturation of their songwriting without losing anything in its buzzsaw power, melody and fun. This album feeds off punk rock’s history while delivering riffs that are fresh and invigorating.

Is this their breakthrough album? It deserves to be! The first single set for release in January is “Life’s So Lonely” and features Joe King of The Queers on shared vocal duties…it’s a certified banger! Collaborated with Original Pattern Brewing Co. (Oakland, CA) to release its own beer, “Banshee Maple Brown Ale.” Brewed and distributed in 2021 & 2022.

Grant Pack of Stay Out started JoyBoy! Records in 2023
Won 1 st place in “LAST SONG STANDING 8 (2021)” competing in a 64-band global online contest. This featured the band’s single “Cemetery Song”.
